AN ARTIST TALK WITH RADEK BROUSIL
THE POST IMAGE RESEARCH CLUSTER & CONCORDIA’S PHOTOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT PRESENT:
AN ARTIST TALK WITH RADEK BROUSIL
WEDNESDAY october 31, 2018 12.30-1:30
Radek Brousil was born in Nitra, in the Slovak republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, at the College of Communications in London UK, and the Photography program at Concordia University. He is currently a PhD Research Scholar at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague, and an artist in residence at the Darling Foundry, Montreal. He lives and works in Prague and Berlin.
Radek Brousil often mixes objects, sculpture, photography and video in his artistic practice. His focus, however, is based on a broader investigation of photography – namely, on its technical and artistic properties as well as its current usage and socio-economic implications. Brousil is therefore mainly interested in displacements, gestures of appropriation, phenomena of misinterpretation and the non-existence of the “natural world” in the field of contemporary cultural and economic exchanges.
